I made these maple walnuts last night and they are AMAZING! They are great to add to salad, cereal, oatmeal, desserts, or just as a snack. They really helped satisfy my sweets craving too. My kids and husband enjoyed them so much that they’re already gone!
Here’s how you make them:
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Heat a saucepan over medium heat and add walnuts then maple syrup/vanilla extract. Stir continuously for 3-5 minutes until all of the liquid is evaporated and the syrup starts to caramelize. Spread in an even layer on a parchment lined baking sheet and let them cool 1-2 hours. We taste tested them at 20 minutes though.
They can be stored in an airtight container for a few weeks but trust me, they won’t last that long!
