Scary Goals are GOOD!

You know those goals that scare the heck out of you? The ones that are so scary that they leave you feeling so overwhelmed that you talk yourself out of trying. Yeah, me too.

When you are starting out on your path to achieving any goal you face a lot of unknowns. How long will it take to get to where I want to be? How will I be able to put in the work to get there? What happens if I give up? Am I strong enough to do it? Trust me, I know. That was me when I had 20ish pounds to lose and a whole lot of emotional weight to lose along with it. It’s scary. It’s hard. At times it might feel impossible. I don’t know how long it will take you to achieve your goals, but I do know that if you show up everyday to put in the work and believe in yourself – even if you have to fake it until you make it until you do – you can accomplish things you never thought were possible. Even on days when it’s hard. Even on days when you don’t want to. ESPECIALLY on the days that you don’t want to. You have to push through the reasons why you think you shouldn’t and focus on the reason(s) why you should. It’s not just about the physical transformation, it is also about your state of mind too. It’s not about muscles or abs, it’s about being healthy and feeling good in your own skin. It’s about learning to love yourself again and being proud of the things you accomplish instead of beating yourself over the things that you don’t.

But the most important thing to do is to start. Just get started. Are you afraid? Then start afraid. Are you unsure? Then start unsure. You won’t know if you don’t try. You won’t achieve it if you don’t start. Be afraid, skeptical, unsure, insert different emotions here, but do it anyway.

I’m not where I want to be yet because I’m always setting new goals for myself so I can continue to grow. But I’m much closer than I was when I started and I’m even closer than I was yesterday.
